The Saba delegation provided the Director-General, who is very familiar with Saba as she has visited the island, with an update on how far thew Public Entity Saba is with their school projects, including the renovations at the Sacred Heart School and the Saba Comprehensive Schools, and the Plan of Action for future projects.

The Action Plan, drafted by the Planning Bureau, contains plans for the construction of a new daycare building and kindergarten at St. John’s, as well as the expansion of the SCS. “The meeting with the Director-General gave us the opportunity to explain how far we are,” said Zagers, who lauded the cooperation with Mrs. Oppers and the Ministry of OCW.

The Public Entity Saba became responsible for the construction and renovation of the school buildings on the island after the signing of an agreement with the Ministry of OCW in April this year. Under this new responsibility, the Public Entity Saba executed a renovation project at the SHS and the SCS over the summer. The funds for this project came from the Ministry of OCW. In the past, the real estate agency of the Dutch Government “Rijksvastgoedbedrijf” was in charge of school construction and renovation on Saba.
