Kralendijk- A total of six participants to the basic hairdresser’s program, part of the ongoing Job Training Program, have received a certificate for participation.

The Society and Care Department organized the course in collaboration with Trendy & Beauty Salon. Romeray Emerenciana, owner of Trendy & Beauty Salon and teacher said that she was proud of the group. According to Emerenciana, the participants were highly motivated from the start of the course to the end.

The intimacy of the small group of six participants and the experienced trainer quickly ensured a safe learning environment. All participants also scored high on the exam.

Commissioner Nina den Heyer, responsible for the Job Training Program congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of women being economically independent.

“This certificate supports them in this. As local Government we are here to support citizens where necessary. There is no need to be embarrassed to ask for and accept help”, said Den Heyer.

According to den Heyer, all successful people have experienced obstacles in life, but because they have perseverance, they succeed in achieving their goals. With this she appealed to the participants to continue to believe in themselves despite all the difficulties in life.

During the training, participants learned cutting and hair-drying techniques. They also attended a make-up and pedicure workshop.

With the obtained certificate and the basic package of hairdressing supplies received, participants can start working as local small entrepreneurs.

The Society and Care Directorate, through the social support and labor departments and the social neighborhood team, regularly organize short jo-oriented training courses to strengthen the work position and self-reliance of participants.
