The play materials were purchased from a specialty company in The Netherlands and will be installed by local contractors over the coming weeks. The fund for this project was made available to the Publics Entity’s Directorate Society and Welfare by the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations- Jetta Klijnsma Fund for Children’s Rights.

Project Managers of the school playground materials project, Dirkje De Jong, Children’s Rights Coordinator of the Public Entity of St Eustatius and Ingrid Whitfield of the Committee Wederopbouw Statia explained that three primary schools opted for play material, while the Governor the Graaff school opted for expanding its school ground to accommodate a green house project. In addition, to ensure that children have access to quality and age appropriate play material outside the school environment provision was made to ensure that after school programs and other organizations catering to younger children such as Buzzy Bees Day-care and Statia Earth Farm and Garden are well equipped.
