Kralendijk- On April 30, 2018 KPCN will introduce a new operational uniform on Bonaire. The basic color of the uniform is dark blue, with yellow stripes in the outerwear. The pants will be a kind of ME pants, with pockets on the thighs with high shoes and a cap.

The current uniform used by Police on the BES-islands is a formal uniform, with neat trousers and a cap. The new operational uniform, according to KPCN is more suitable for the varied work on the street.

This does not mean that the current uniform disappears; the current uniform will continue to exist for colleagues who do not work on the streets and on official occasions as a representative uniform for all those who are uniform.

The Bikers Team will also keep their special uniform that they already had.

From February 1, 2018, a four-week wear test was held with the operational uniform that is in use at the National Police in the Netherlands, by police officers on Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius.

The reactions of the officers involved were positive and it was decided to introduce the new uniform in the Caribbean part of the Netherlands. Bonaire has the scoop and is the first to be put in the new uniform. Saba and St. Eustatius will follow in the third quarter of this year. This is because a gradual introduction has been opted for and it is also better to oversee organizational aspects.
