Presidents First and Second Chamber to visit BES-islands

Kralendijk- The Presidents of the First and Second Chamber, Ankie Broekers-Knol and
Khadija Arib, will pay a joint visit to the Caribbean Netherlands from January 7th till January 13th, 2018. They will visit the Windward Islands, amongst others, in order to see the ravages of hurricanes Irma and Maria and the activities implemented in the context of the reconstruction that are carried out.

On January 7th, they will be welcomed on St. Eustatius by acting island governor Julian Woodley. The program features meetings with the executive council and the island council and an island tour. During this tour they will also visit reconstruction sites, so that the Presidents can see for themselves the current situation on the island now, after the hurricanes Irma and Maria.

On January 8th the delegation will arrive on Saba and will be welcomed by island governor Jonathan Johnson. There they will have an informal meeting with the executive council and the island council.
On January 9th, there is an island tour scheduled, as well as talks with representatives of social organizations.

After a visit to St. Maarten and Curaçao, the Presidents will visit Bonaire, where they are welcomed by island governor Edison Rijna and acting Kingdom Representative Jan Helmond. After a meeting with the island governor, and successively the executive council and the island council, an island tour concludes the program.
