Kralendijk- Progress is being made with repair work to the so-called Roll-on Roll-off pier in the harbor of Kralendijk, Bonaire. The repairs were necessary after some episodes with bad weather and rough water, which had affected the pier in question quite severly.

According to information received from the Government of Bonaire, the execution of the work is on schedule. After work on the Roll-on Roll-off pier is finalized, work on the South pier will be starting at the end of April.

The barrel that is being built under the waterline of the RORO-pier is almost finished. This temporary construction is for the workers who have to braid the iron and prepare the pouring of concrete. The cape of the pier is made of concrete and sits below sea level. This construction extends the lifespan of the pier. After the construction is finished, oxygen will not be able to affect the steel of the pier’s construction anymore.

The Knoll company has been able to contract local workers who can carry out the work seen on the photo. According to Government, Knoll wants to use as many local employees as possible on the project.
