Oranjestad – the remains of two people were found aboard an Italian oil tanker – MT RBD GINO FERRETTI which was sailing under the Italian flag from Brazil to Statia.
The bodies of two men ages 33 and 42 years old with Filipino nationality were found on the oil tanker. The Caribbean Netherland Police Force (KPCN) investigated this matter with a team from Bonaire and Statia with the assistance from Italian authorities. While various witnesses have been questioned by the police, a 43 year old suspect with Filipino nationality has been arrested. At this time, this case is being treated as a murder investigation.
The suspect has been transferred over to Italian authorities awaiting extradition to Italy where the case is being further investigated.
