Saba Attends National Crisis Management Conference

The Bottom/The Hague- Disaster Management Advisor Pauline Kauffmann of the Public Entity Saba attended the National Conference on Crisis Management in the Netherlands last week.

Kauffmann, who started her new job on Saba in May this year, attended several workshops at the conference, which was officially opened by Minister of Justice and Security Ferd Grapperhaus. The central theme of the conference was “Unknown future disasters.”

Aside from attending the conference, Ms. Kauffmann gave a hurricane preparedness presentation to different ministries and government departments in The Hague. Kauffmann gave a presentation at the Ministry of Justice and Safety (J&V), the Ministry of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations (BZK), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W). Also, in attendance were representatives of the National Operation Centre and the National Coordination Centre which play an important role during crises.

Ms. Kauffmann took part in a number of meetings with ministries to discuss the cooperation between the ministries and Saba during a crisis. Together, actions will be taken to improve information management and coordination between the Netherlands and the Dutch Caribbean, including Saba.
