The Bottom, Saba- Saba will host its first Tourism and Marketing Conference this year on August 14 and 15. The conference intends to bring together the various stakeholders of Saba’s tourism industry, in orde to stimulate the industry with knowledge from experts in the fields of tourism, marketing, and customer service.

There will be a total of six speakers. The first speaker is Ricardo Perez, General Manager of Oyster Bay Beach Resort, who will be speaking about Customer Service and its importance to tourism.

The second speaker will be Theresa Overby, Senior Digital Project Manager at Miles Partnership, who will have multiple sessions and will give an overview of social media marketing, with emphasis placed on specific tools and trends that can be utilized.

David McGregor, Co-Owner of Charisma Training and Development, will be the third speaker, and he will conduct a team building session which displays the value of working together within the tourism industry.

St. Maarten’s Director of Tourism, Rolando Brison will also be a part of the conference and will be discussing strengthening the touristic relationship between Saba and St. Maarten.

The fifth speaker will be Teresa Delaney, a representative of D&D PR, the New York PR firm which has a partnership with Saba. Teresa will focus on the various developments from the relationship between Saba and D&D PR and will discuss with the stakeholders about what they would like to see more of in the future.

The last speaker at the Tourism Conference is Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, Former Bahamas Minister of Tourism, who will speak about why tourism is fundamental to Saba’s economy and measuring tourism with a bigger picture.

Commissioner Bruce Zagers stated, “This conference is a way to bring the many stakeholders of the tourism industry together within a learning atmosphere. The conference presents an opportunity for ideas to be discussed and for relationships to be strengthened.”

Additionally, according to Zagers, it is important to continue to invest in the product of Saba and knowledge is always an important and sustainable investment. “I look forward to participating in the conference, and it is my hope that the stakeholders will take advantage of the opportunity this conference provides to network and continue to grow.”, said Zagers.
