Saba prepares for International Women’s day celebration

The Bottom, Saba – Commissioner with responsibilities for Gender Affairs, Mr. Rolando Wilson, announced that he is very much satisfied with the program of events planned and organized by the Department of Community Development and Public Health.

The weekend starts with a Game Night at Dimples Lounge on Friday, March 6th, from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm. On Saturday, March 7th, there’s a Walkathon that starts at the parking lot of the Tourist Bureau in Windwardside at 5:30 pm and ends at the Johan Cruijff Court, where there will be healthy snacks for all participants, followed by a speaker sharing her experiences with Domestic Violence.

On Sunday, March 8th, they will all go to the Wesleyan Holiness Church to give God thanks, and praise for the beautiful contribution that women have made are continue to make within our society. They will end off the celebrations with a luncheon at the Sunny Valley Youth Center, where Mr Wilson will present six awards to women in different categories. One of the treats for the women during lunch is guest keynote speaker former Netherlands Antilles Prime Minister Mrs. Maria Liberia-Peters.

In keeping with their annual tradition on Friday, March 6th, the Executive Council is granting all women employed by the Public Entity Saba, the afternoon off as long as services permits and allow.
