Kralendijk – On May 2, 2017 the Health Study Bonaire 2017 has started. Based on a sample from the Civil Affairs Population Register a total of five thousand people between 0 and 89 years have been invited to participate in the Health Study.

For those invited to form part of the Health Study and who may have difficulty to go visit the health study location during weekdays, there will be an extra opportunity to do so this coming Saturday, May 13, between 9 AM and 5 PM.

Each consultation will begin with the intake and signing of the consent statement. Thereafter a medical check-up follows: length, weight, blood pressure measurement, blood decrease, throat and nasal swab and explanation of collection at home of a stool sample. At the end of the consultation, participants are asked to complete an extensive health questionnaire which can be done in Papiamento, Dutch, English or Spanish. The survey often takes no longer than an hour.

As a ‘thank-you’ for participation in the survey, participants receive a gift card in the sum of 25 dollars. This gift card can be used at BonDiGro, Warehouse Supermarket, Van den Tweel Supermarket, DA and Top1Toys.

The government of Bonaire, calls on everyone who has received an invitation but has not yet been in office to attend one of the consultation hours and participate in the Health Study 2017. Normal consulting hours are from 10:00 AM to 8 PM at Jong Bonaire on May 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 24. In Rincon the consultation hours are held at Cocari Rincon on May 22 and 23.
