Oranjestad- Member of the permanent Second Chamber Committee for Kingdom Affairs want to know from State Secretary Raymond Knops, why the more or less 40 kilometers of roads in St. Eustatius cannot be repaired faster.

The Committee asked Knops if the lack of funds for the road repair is the only problem hampering the execution of the road improvement. The Committee also wants to know from Knops what the total costs for the road repairs will be.

The Committee also wonders if a formal procedure has to be followed for the tendering of the necessary work. “Can’t the work be cut up in smaller projects so that the work can be tendered in an easier way?”, the Committee wants to know of Knops.

The State Secretary will have till August 27 to answer the questions posed on the situation of road repairs in St. Eustatius, as well as other questions posed to him. In total the Committee posed no less than 47 questions to Knops after a recent visit to the Windward Islands.
