Spectacular final day Forsa PWA Freestyle World Cup

Sorobon – Saturday, April 13th the final of the Forsa PWA Freestyle World Cup took place. Encouraged by a large and enthusiastic crowd, which was not inferior in terms of emotion and noise to a well-filled football stadium, the world’s best freestylers were pushed to their limits.

Amado Vrieswijk from Bonaire became the star of the “double elimination” by winning 7 consecutive heats, eventually crowning him the king of the tournament. Youp Schmit from Bonaire came in second and the Frenchman Julian Mas came in third. Taty Frans finished ninth.

For the ladies, it became even more exciting because Maaike Huvermann from the Netherlands beat the Aruban Sarah-Quita Offringa in the last second of the semifinal. Offringa had not lost any heat for 11 years. Yet the Aruban eventually won the final and was crowned Queen of Bonaire.

The objective of the tournament has been achieved; bringing professional windsurfers together with new talents and the youth of Bonaire through sport. The cooperating organizations, the schools, local entrepreneurs and the organization team look back on a fantastic sporting tournament.

The FORSA PWA Committee thanks all athletes, the PWA crew, all sponsors, volunteers, the schools and their students and all spectators for their cooperation, support, and enthusiasm for making the FORSA PWA WorldCup a huge success.
