Oranjestad- Local iguanas in St. Eustatius, also know as the Lesser Antillean Iguanan, get another helping hand with the creation of an ‘Iguana Hotline’. The number for the hotline is +599-318-1420.

Sint Eustatius National Parks Foundation (STENAPA) asks everyone to add the hotline number to their contacts and to call or send a Whatsapp message for sightings of the invasive green iguana with black bands on the tail.

People are also asked to contact the Iguana Hotline if they see a local iguana that still needs to be tagged, relocated or has been involved in a road accident.

STENAPA points out that the possibilities of road accidents increase during dry periods, so that it would be beneficial to the cause to keep the hotline in mind when it gets hot and dry.

STENAPA encourages people on the island to call if they have any information or questions about conservation efforts of what they call ‘Statia’s largest land animal’ and also encourages the sharing the ‘Iguana Hotline’ with friends and visitors.
