Kralendijk – Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire (STCB) would like to congratulate everyone that adopted a nest in 2018 with the great outcome of this nesting season. This year, 56 sea turtle nests laid on the beaches of Bonaire and Klein Bonaire were adopted and the adopters thereby helped STCB save 6,236 loggerhead, hawksbill and green turtle hatchlings. This is a new record.

STCB’s Manager Mabel Nava: “We are overjoyed with the continuous support from companies and individuals on Bonaire and further afield! Many of our nest adopters have been supporting our conservation work year after year, thereby showing their strong commitment to Bonaire’s unique nature. We would like to thank them for helping us ensure a secure future for Bonaire’s sea turtles and we hope that they will continue to participate in Adopt-A-Nest and protect sea turtles with us in the years to come!” 

Through Adopt-A-Nest, the adopters receive prominent visibility. The adopters are put in the spotlight through social media, press releases, STCB’s website, word of mouth and the Nest-O-Meter. In addition, Adopt-A-Nest continues to attract interest from abroad; this year’s adopters were once again based on Bonaire as well as the Netherlands, Germany and the United States. Adopt-A-Nest therefore allows local companies to increase their exposure on Bonaire and abroad.
