STINAPA Bonaire is going digital

Stinapa Bonaire, the NGO in charge of Bonaire’s national parks will start selling their legendary nature fee through the internet. Since the first “dive tag” was sold in January 1st, 1992, Stinapa Bonaire becomes one of the few Marine Protected Areas management body financially sustainable and a role model for dozens of parks around the world.

Due to the changes in the tourism industry since that date and new tendencies in the use of internet to purchase tourism related products, Stinapa together with local operators decide that pre-selling digitally was the way to go.

Reef Support, the Bonaire based consultancy company is the one selected to provide the selling platform and technical support.

An agreement was signed yesterday between Stinapa Director Arjen de Wolff and Reef Support Director Ramón de León and it is established that the system will be available early June.

The new online system will considerably reduce the workload in the local operators, reduce over the counter cash transaction and reduce the use of plastic.
