Oranjestad- Foundation Uniek Curacao has sent three volunteers to assist Sint Eustatius National Parks Foundation (STENAPA) with clearing the trails after the hurricanes. The clearing of the 29 km trail network from trees, branches and debris is so much work that STENAPA accepted gladly the offer from Uniek Curacao to help out.

The team will focus on the Northern Hills, where they will do trails such as Bergje, Gilboa 2 and 3 and improve signage. They also help out in the botanical garden.

“It is an honor to visit a colleague nature organization in the Dutch Caribbean. We enjoy the beauty of the National Parks. Statia is so green, a real treasure for hikers. We also exchange views and experiences about maintaining trails. Very productive”, said Mundo Martina from Uniek Curacao.

The visit was made possible financially thanks to a donation of the Prince Bernhard Fund Caribisch Gebied.
