The preparatory work for the Tourism Conference has produced six ’takeaways points’ to further develop tourism on Bonaire.

Kralendijk- The Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) is happy with the outcome of the Tourism Conference which was held in Harbour Village on August 24th.

The TCB also confirmed, as had been mentioned earlier, that the University of Central Florida (UCF) will be finalizing the islands’ Tourism Master Plan. The information and feedback received during the Tourism Summit can be considered important input for the finalization of the plan.

According to TCB, there are 6 main conclusions, when it comes to the further development of tourism on the island. One of the most important is that Bonaire has a lot to offer and should not undersell itself in the market when it comes to what the island can offer tourists.

Other conclusions are that the population should benefit from the development of the tourism sector, that development of the tourism sector is a team effort needing the input of all stakeholders and that tourism is too important to be drawn into divisive party politics.

The UCF team working on Bonaire’s Tourism Master Plan is comprised of Robertico Croes, Manuel Rivera and Valeriya Shapoval.
