ZVK closely monitoring flight-situation Insel

ZVK says to be closely monitoring the situation with flights for patients who need to travel abroad or back home.

Kralendijk- Zorgverzekeringskantoor BES (ZVK) says they have been, for some weeks already, closely following the developments concerning the availability of flights for those who need to be sent abroad for medical referrals from Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba.

ZVK says to have take a number of actions to warrant that insured persons arrive on time for their appointments for treatment and/or specialist consultation and that they are doing their utmost to ensure that they can safely an timely travel back to their respective islands.

ZVK says that in cases of delays and/or cancellation of flights, they will accommodate the affected policyholders by rebooking their flights, arrange ground transportation, meals, and arrangements of hotel stays at their respective destinations. Comfort of the insured on medical referral aboard is paramount.

ZVK also says it is currently exploring the possibilities for alternative flight options to destinations where policyholders are referred to for medical treatments or consultations. “The main aim of these efforts is to warrant, as far as this is possible, specialized care in a reliable, fair and accessible way” according to ZVK.
