Oranjestad- Yesterday evening the Gala Dinner, organized by the Golden Rock Cancer Awareness Foundation and hosed by Blue Island Gem Events took place in the Mike Van Putten Youth Center. The organizers look back on a successful and positive event.

The Master of Ceremony for the evening was Ms. Anastacia Korstanje. After the welcome by the MC, and a prayer led by Father Simon Wilson, there were various other speakers during the evening, including the President of the Golden Rock Canser Awareness Foundation, Geraldine Hodge, Government Commissioner Mervin Stegers, Sara Stone of the Toastmasters Club, Dr. Schobbe from the health department.

There was also a raffle for a 2 night 3 day stay at Statia Lodge, which was won Humphrey Silent. A gift of appreciation was furthermore given to each guest donated by Alpha Health Care Services in Sint Maarten.

Daniela Richardson of Blue Island Gem Events thanked everyone for coming out with a toast of appreciation.

“The event was very emotional, listening to not just survivors but their families and friends who fought the battle along with them”, said Daniela Richardson from Blue Gem. “I look forward to hosting another gala in the future. Thank you to my friends and family that helped to promote the event and encourage me not to give up”, said Richardson.
