Open day defense during military exercise on Bonaire
Kralendijk – The island of Bonaire is part of a scenario for an exercise of the army company in the West and the Curaçao Militia. This will all be happening from Monday 10 to 17 December. On Sunday 16 December there will be an open day in the port of Bonaire. Everyone is welcome to take a look at the life of a soldier, both on land and on board two naval ships.
The exercise on Bonaire is part of the regular training program for the company, which is changed every four months on Curaçao. For this reason, the training takes place every four months on Bonaire because this unit is responsible for providing direct military assistance after the request of the government representative. The primary goal for this unit is to get acquainted with the island of Bonaire, the local authorities and emergency services and to train and exchange experiences with them.
Look on board
On Sunday, December 16 the permanent support vessel Pelikaan and the new station ship Zeeland are keeping an open house. This means that everyone on board can come and see what the naval ship looks like from the inside. The Pelican is moored at the north pier. The Zeeland is located on the south pier. On the central pier are the soldiers of the army company, the Curacao Military, colleagues of the Royal Marechausse and of the Coast Guard. Here are all kinds of activities set up for the youth. The latter security partner, the Coast Guard, also provided a flying demo around noon with its helicopter and aircraft.
We hope to see you all Sunday, December 16 at the port of Bonaire.
