SABA— On July 15, the Public Entity Saba, represented by Island Governor Jonathan Johnson and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, represented by State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven signed a declaration of intention to start the phasing out of single-use plastics next year. Therefore, introducing biodegradable products in the upcoming festivities.
The Public Entity Saba has purchased several cases of biodegradable cups, food containers and straws that were ordered from PDG in St. Maarten. These products will be given to booth holders at the Carnival Village as a try- out for the upcoming festivities, which will open on Monday, July 22 for the entire week, up to the Second Day Parade, the Last Lap and the burning of the Momo on Sunday, July 28.
