Stanley Wellington (Tat) Van Putten Passes Away on Statia

Oranjestad, St. Eustatius- On St. Eustatius the well-known Stanley Wellington (Tat) van Putten, father to among others PLP leader Clyde van Putten has passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020. Van Putten reached the age of 82.

The former Police Officer passed away at the Queen Beatrix Medical Center (QBMC) after a brief illness.

Van Putten worked no less than 47 years of his life for the Police Department on St. Eustatius. After his retirement from the Police Force, Van Putten worked for a number of years hoisting the flag on all Government buildings and ringing the bell 3 times a day, namely at 6.00am, 12:00 noon and 6:00pm in the evening, at Historic Fort Oranje.

Van Putten was decorated on two different occasions by the House of Orange and also received the Golden Rock League of Merit for Outstanding Contribution from local government for his community service.

Van Putten leaves to mourn his 19 children among which is PLP leader Mr. Clyde Van Putten, his grand children, and great grand children, his Sister Irma Van Putten and brother Adonis Haynes and a host of other relatives and friends.

According to Van Putten’s family, funeral services will be will be announced later on. Staff and contributors to the BES-Reporter express their heartfelt condolences to the Van Putten family for their loss.
