Oranjestad- Statia’s Carnival is gaining a name for itself. While the Carnival Parade may not overly big, the Carnival Troupes are all very well presented. This year there were a total of 5 troupes participating to the parade in the streets of Oranjestad: Island Gems, Carnival Survivors, Caribbean Tribe, Caribbean Opal and Multimix.
There were also 3 live bands out on the road, namely Rebels band, Jamm Boys and Turbulence band.
This year marked itself by quite some discussion between present and former organizers and choices made, for instance in the awarding of booths in the Carnival Village. In spite of these discussions, which seem to take part on most of our islands time and again, Carnival in Statia continues to shine and grow, much to the delight of those looking forward to this time of year.
