2019 Statia domestic violence campaign focuses on the strength of the woman

Oranjestad, St. Eustatius- On Monday November 25th Department of Social Support of the Public Entity of St. Eustatius will officially launch its new Statia Domestic Violence Campaign in commemoration of the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women. The theme of this year’s campaign is violence “DOING NOTHING ISN’T AN OPTION”. This year they have chosen to focus on the strength of women instead of focusing on the sad and negative aspects of the abuse of women. For this reason the Public Entity of St. Eustatius is organizing an EXPO to highlight the power of women.

The general public is encouraged to attend this EXPO scheduled to be held at the Lion’s Den starting at 6.00 pm. Various booth holders will have for sale food, drinks, jewelry, art, scrubs and other things. A variety of performances will be staged starting at 7.00 pm. Speeches will be held while several performances will include dance, music, a funny skit and a fashion show. Rebels Band High Definition will close the night with some wonderful music. Stakeholders who work on a regular basis with domestic violence cases will be there as well; these are Victim Support, Youth Care Caribbean Netherlands (JGCN) Dutch Caribbean Police Force (KPCN), Mental Health Caribbean and Social Support of the Public Entity of St. Eustatius. This is made possible with the support of the Public Entity of St. Eustatius and the Ministry of Public Health, Welfare and Sports.
