Custody of Sprott Extended with 8 days

Philipsburg- The detention of PJIA Airport Security Manager, Jerry Sprott, has been extended for another 8 days. This was communicated by the prosecutor’s office today in a short statement to the press.

Sprott was arrested on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, by the Anti-corruption Taskforce (TBO) of the RST. Initially it was stated that Sprott was suspected of accepting bribes, money laundering and complicity in violation of the duty to register foreign exchange.

According to today’s statement, Sprott woudl be suspected of having S accepted on two separate occasions a payment 5000 dollars in return for Illegally assisting the entry of a large sum of money and a quantity of precious stones.

Detained at Point Blanche

The judge granted an order of detention on Friday January 18 2019. Sprott has been put in detention in Point Blanche prison.

According to the statement by TBO, the judge found that -given the position of Sprott-, the legal order has been seriously shocked by the actions of the suspect.

Family and friends of Sprott, who is known to many for his mild manners and friendliness, have reacted with and shock to his detention and the accusations.
