Local EQ Foundation has asked attention for the international day against homo- and transphobia.
Kralendijk- Today International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. IDAHOT was celebrated. For the occasion, the local organization fighting for equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people (EQ) has published announcements in various local newspapers, in cooperation with other LGBT organizations on the sister islands.
On the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, May 17th, global attention is being paid to the phenomenon of homophobia and its social inconveniences. The slogan “Be yourself, that is what you also want?”, can be a nice opening sentence to talk about homophobia.
Worldwide there are campaigns, actions that give IDAHOT a face, for example in the sports world. In a safe sports environment, everyone feels at home. It does not matter what your background is, how you look or what your sexual preference is. IDAHOT also asks attention for ‘rainbow families’ (families with same-sex parents, editor) and demands respect for these families and children.
